Pineda Lyric holds auditions throughout the year for students ages 8 through 18 (who have not yet graduated from High School) for the Young Artist Program as well as adults interested in performing in the ensemble.

Young Artists and Adult Ensemble members are also considered for supporting and featured roles in Pineda Lyric productions.

The Young Artists also present their own fully-staged opera or operetta each season.

Pineda Lyric holds NYC auditions and New Jersey regional auditions for professional singers throughout the year.

The Magic Flute
Open audition for all roles in Pineda Lyric's Young Artist (12 - 18 y.o.) production of Mozart's opera.  Performed in English. 

Prepare 32 bars of an art song or aria in any language or legit musical theater selection (no belting).  You may also be asked to read from the script.

Performances:  June weekend TBA at the CDC Theatre in Cranford, NJ.  Rehearsals: Once a week on Friday evenings, then added weekend rehearsals beginning the end of April.

CHARACTER BREAKDOWN
YOUNG ARTIST PROGRAM

Tamino (Tenor) prince, some music may be lowered.
Papageno (Baritone) bird catcher, comic role.
Monostatos (Tenor) a Moor, chief slave of the temple
Sarastro (Bass or Bass Baritone - could be mezzo, too) High Priest.
Pamina (Soprano) daughter of Queen of the Night, in love with Tamino.
Papagena (Soprano) bird girl, romantic interest to Papageno.
Queen of the Night (Soprano) aria's will be lowered.
Three Ladies (Sop 1, Sop 2, Mezzo) fiery servants to the Queen of the Night - fun large roles.
Two Priests (Tenor & Bari or Sop and Mezzo) judgmental fortune tellers.
Three Spirits (Younger singers who can hold harmony well) help and guide the Prince and Princess.
Ensemble of slaves, temple priests and animals - all ages and voice ranges.
CHARACTER BREAKDOWN
Because of the difficulty of some roles, some parts of the opera will be transposed into lower keys to be more suitable for young singers.
